The Hon. Michael J. Misiaszek is a part-time judge for the Oneida City Court in Madison County in the Sixth Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to the position in 2002 and re-elected in 2009.
He is a registered Republican.
Judge Misiaszek received his B.S. from the State University of New York Maritime College. He also holds a J.D. from Albany Law School.
Prior to attending law school, he served in the U.S. Naval Reserve beginning in 1977. Misiaszek retired from the Naval Reserve in 1983 having reached the rank of Lieutenant. He also served as a second mate with the U.S. Merchant Marines.
Over the course of his legal career, he has practiced as a partner at the law firm of Helmer, Johnson, Misiaszek, and Kenealy and also served as a village attorney for the Village of New York Mills and a town attorney for the Town of Schuyler. His areas of practice included real estate, trusts, estates and estate planning, as well as municipal and criminal law.
In addition to serving in these positions, he has taught business law as an adjunct professor at Utica College, Utica School of Commerce, Mohawk Valley Community College, Herkimer County Community College, and BOCES.
Misiaszek has also held several positions with the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired Foundation, including serving as a member of the Board of Directors and vice president.
