Appointed By: Chief Judge William J. Sadler
The Hon. Michael Crowder is a magistrate for the Mercer County Magistrate Court in West Virginia. Crowder was appointed to the bench by Chief Judge William Sadler in 2021, filling a seat vacated by the Hon. Charles Poe. He was re-elected in 2024.
Prior to his appointment, Crowder had recently retired from the West Virginia State Police, following twenty-five years of service. After joining the department as a state trooper in 1994, he rose through the ranks, eventually serving as deputy chief of field operations. Then, in 2018, he joined the Princeton Rescue Squad as its deputy chief of operations. Crowder left his post there in early 2021, a couple of months shy of his elevation to the bench.
