The Hon. Michael B. Hayworth is a judge for the 16th Judicial District Court of Montana. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Steve Bullock on June 19, 2013, filling a vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. Gary L. Day.
The 16th Judicial District encompasses Carter, Custer, Fallon, Garfield, Powder River, Rosebud, and Treasure Counties.
Hayworth earned a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University in 1992. He then completed a J.D. at Valparaiso University School of Law in 1995. He is licensed to practice in Montana (1995), the United States District Court for the District of Montana (1995), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (2012).
After graduating from law school, Hayworth entered into private practice. He worked in that capacity until 2000, at which time he became the County Attorney for Rosebud County.
