The Hon. Melissa R. D'Morias is a judge for the Kings County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Gavin Newsom on November 29, 2021, filling the vacancy of a newly created position.
D’Morias earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology, law & society from the University of California, Irvine in 2007. She then completed a J.D. at Whittier Law School in 2010. As a law student, she clerked for the Felony Panel and the Major Fraud Unit of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
After graduating from law school, D’Morias began her legal career as a staff attorney for Fresno Child Advocates. She spent the next two years counseling minors in juvenile dependency proceedings before becoming a deputy district attorney for the Sexual Assault & Severe Child Abuse Unit of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.
D’Morias was a resident of Hanford, California, at the time of her appointment.
She is registered as a Democrat.
