Judge Max L. Rosenberg: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Max L. Rosenberg is a judge for the Stratford Probate Court (District 47) in Fairfield County, Connecticut. He joined the bench in 2019.


In addition to presiding on the probate court, Rosenberg has been a managing partner at Rosenberg Whewell & Hite, LLC in Stratford since 2006. At the firm, he handles all phases of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings. Rosenberg also gained experience with consumer protection, criminal, family, real estate, and employment law matters.


Before opening the firm, he was an associate at the Stratford law firm of Shepro & Blake, LLC (2005 to 2007) and Harmon, Linder & Rogowsky (2004 to 2005) in New York City, New York.


While practicing in New York, Rosenberg worked as a bankruptcy and civil litigation attorney. He also served for one year as a former mediator and intern with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in New York (2003 to 2004).


He received a B.A. in playwriting and theatre performance from Fordham University (2000) and an M.A. in Theology and Liturgiology from Union Theological Seminary (2001) and religion and sociology from Columbia University (2001). Rosenberg went on to complete a J.D. at Yeshiva University, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2004.


He was admitted to practice in Connecticut (2004) and New York (2005).


Prior to beginning his legal career, he spent time as an actor, having appeared in various films, educational videos, and television commercials. He also did stand-up comedy in the Borsht Belt, Catskills, and New York City clubs.


Rosenberg later hosted the “Legal Hour” and “What’s Your Problem?” on WDJZ and WICC radio station, which allowed listeners to call in for advice.


He has served as the attorney on record for the Pyramid Shrine Masonic Lodge in Milford.
