Biography

The Hon. Matthew C. McGlynn is a judge for the Superior Court of Tehama County in California. He was elected to the bench in 2012, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Richard Scheuler.


McGlynn earned a B.A. in English from Santa Clara University in 1983. He then continued his studies at Santa Clara University School of Law, where he completed a J.D. in 1986.


After graduating from law school, McGlynn joined the law practice of his father, Thomas J. McGlynn, where he would eventually become a named partner. During his tenure there, he handled civil, criminal, family, probate, and business law matters.


McGlynn was born and raised in Tehama County, where he attended Sacred Heart School, Bidwell Junior High School, and Mercy High School. His family has lived in Tehama County for four generations.


He has served as president of the Red Bluff-Tehama County Chamber of Commerce. He has also been an active member of the Red Bluff Kiwanis Club, where he has served as president and director of the Kiwanis Youth Camp.
