The Hon. Martha B. Brasfield (Ret.) is a former chancellor for the 25th Judicial District Chancery Court of Tennessee. She joined the bench in 1998. Brasfield retired on August 25, 2022.
The 25th Judicial District includes Fayette, Hardeman, Lauderdale, McNairy, and Tipton Counties.
Prior to sitting as a chancellor, she worked for ten years as a private practice attorney (1977 to 1987) and was a judge for the Western Division of the Tennessee Claims Commission (1987 to 1998).
She received a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College in 1970. Brasfield then completed a J.D. at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, in 1975.
