Biography

Hon. J. Mark Lindsay is a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Arkansas. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mike Huckabee in 2000, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Thomas F. Butt (deceased).


The 4th Judicial Circuit includes Madison and Washington Counties.


Prior to his appointment, Lindsay sat as a judge for the West Fork Municipal Court (1985 to 2000) and had worked in private practice since 1979. Lindsay has also taught adult education classes at the Northwest Arkansas School of Real Estate, the Arkansas Judicial Council, and the Arkansas District Judges Council.


He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas in 1977. Lindsay went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1979. He was admitted to practice in Arkansas (1979), the Arkansas Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Supreme Court.


His memberships have included the Washington County Bar Association, the Arkansas Bar Association, the Arkansas Judicial Council, and the Arkansas District Judges Council (past president). In 2016, Lindsay was appointed by the Arkansas Supreme Court to the Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission.


He and his wife, Sherrie, have three grown children and several grandchildren. The couple resides in Fayetteville.
