Hon. Mark J. Pasquariello is an associate justice of the Pittsfield District Court in Massachusetts. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Charlie Baker in 2017.
Pasquariello attended Vanderbilt University, where he received a B.E. in mechanical and materials engineering in 1985. He then completed a J.D. at Vermont Law School in 1989.
While in law school, Pasquariello served as a law clerk with the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Vermont and the United States Federal District Court for the District of New Hampshire with the Hon. Shane Devine.
After law school, he was a law clerk to the Hon. Eugene Beaulieu with the Penobscot County Superior Court in Bangor, Maine. Upon completing his clerkship, Pasquariello joined the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney in 1990. During his three years as a prosecutor, he handled felony and misdemeanor criminal cases at the bench and jury trial levels and also prosecuted appellate matters before the Massachusetts Appeals Court.
In 1993, Pasquariello became a law clerk to the Hon. Frank H. Freedman, senior judge of the United States Federal District Court for the District of Massachusetts. The following year, he entered into private practice at Grinnell, Dubendorf & Smith, where he handled domestic relations, criminal trials, and general civil litigation as an associate for three years.
Pasquariello left the firm to open his own solo practice in 1997. His general law practice included criminal defense, guardianship and conservatorship matters, mental health litigation, real estate, and probate of estates. Pasquariello remained a sole practitioner until his appointment to the bench.
His memberships have included the Berkshire County Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association.
Pasquariello, who was born in Paterson, New Jersey, enjoys ice hockey, Telemark skiing, mountain biking, and woodworking. At the time of his appointment, he resided in Windsor with his wife and two children.
