Hon. Mark H. Sandson (Ret.) was a judge for the Atlantic/Cape May County Superior Court (Vicinage 1) in New Jersey. He was appointed to the bench in 2007 and reappointed for tenure in 2014. Sandson reached the mandatory age of retirement in 2020.
Over the course of his judicial tenure, he held assignments in the Atlantic County Family Division (2007 to 2011), Criminal Division (2011 to 2015 and 2017 to 2020), and General Equity Division (2015 to 2017). Sandson served as presiding judge of the General Equity Division beginning in 2015. In addition, he led the Atlantic County Recovery Court, a four-phase program that provides treatment, employment opportunities, and education for nonviolent offenders struggling with addiction.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Sandson was a partner at Sandson and DeLucry. Over the course of his legal career, he represented the Atlantic County Improvement Authority, the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority, and the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority. Sandson also represented several casino entities and The Casino Association of New Jersey.
He received an A.B. from Kenyon College (1973) and a master's degree from the University of New Hampshire (1975). Sandson went on to complete a J.D. at Emory University School of Law in 1978.
He was admitted to practice in New Jersey (1978), Georgia (1978), the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the United States District Court for the District of Georgia.
Following his retirement, he joined Nehmad Davis & Goldstein, PC as of counsel.
