The Hon. Margaret A. Bisignani Moyle is a judge for the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was elected to the bench on November 3, 2009.
Moyle is the second female to be elected to the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas. She has presided over a wide variety of cases, including child custody and dependency as well as divorce, criminal, and orphans court matters.
Prior to her election, Moyle worked for the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney (2000 to 2006) and a deputy district attorney (2006 to 2009). She was a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and held assignments in the Felony Drug Unit. During this time, she was also a part-time civil litigator for the Mulligan Law Firm and the Goffer and Cimini Law Firm, handling medical malpractice, family law, tort litigation, and zoning matters.
Moyle earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Catholic University of America in 1984. She then completed a J.D. at the Columbus School of Law of the Catholic University of America in 1987.
After graduating from law school, Moyle began her legal career as an assistant district attorney for the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office in 1988. During that time, she prosecuted serious crimes, including rape and attempted murder. She then relocated to Florida, working as an assistant state attorney for the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office (1991 to 1999) and the St. Lucie County State Attorney’s Office (1999 to 2000).
Born in South Scranton, Pennsylvania, Moyle attended Scranton Preparatory High School. She has been actively involved with the Girl Scouts of America, Green Ridge Little League, St. Paul’s Parish, and the Neighborhood Pride Committee.
