The Hon. Louis S. Sceusi is a judge for the Morris/Sussex County Superior Court (Vicinage 10) in New Jersey. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Chris Christie on June 8, 2012.
Sceusi has held assignments in the Family Division in Sussex County, Essex County, and Morris County (2012 to 2017). He also sat in the Civil Division (2017 to 2019, 2021 to present) in Morris County and the Criminal Division (2020 to 2021) in Sussex County.
Prior to his appointment, Sceusi was an attorney in private practice, handling land use, real estate, commercial, residential, and municipal matters at Giblin & Combs. During this time, he also sat as the Mayor of Rockaway. Before that, he was an assistant district attorney in the Erie County District Attorney’s Office in Buffalo, New York (1977 to 1985).
Sceusi earned a J.D. at Syracuse University College of Law in 1976.
He is registered as a Republican. He has been a supporter of the Highlands Act, which restricts development in an 860,000-acre, seven-county region that provides water to more than half of the state’s residents.
