The Hon. Lon T. McClintock is a judge for the Vermont Superior Court. He was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. D. Justine Scanlon.
Over the course of his judicial career, McClintock has presided over probate cases in Bennington County.
Prior to his election, McClintock was a sole practitioner in his own private practice, a law firm he opened in 2012. He specialized in Social Security disability benefits, real estate, small business, school law, probate, and general civil litigation matters.
McClintock earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Dartmouth College in 1977. He then completed a J.D. at Vermont Law School in 1982. He is licensed to practice in Vermont (1983), the United States District Court for the District of Vermont (1984), and the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit (1986).
After graduating from law school, McClintock began his legal career as a staff attorney with Vermont Legal Aid. He worked in that capacity until 1988, at which time he entered into private practice at the Law Office of Thomas H. Jacobs. McClintock remained with the firm for several years, eventually becoming a named partner at Jacobs, McClintock & Scanlon (renamed Jacobs, McClintock & Palmer-Ellis and Jacobs & McClintock).
His memberships have included the Shaftsbury Development Review Board.
