The Hon. Linda L. Bryant is a judge for the 1st Judicial District Court of Virginia in Chesapeake. She was appointed to the bench by the Virginia General Assembly in 2021.
Prior to her election, Bryant served as a deputy commonwealth’s attorney, deputy attorney general, administrator of Hampton Roads Regional Jail, and a member of the Virginia Parole Board. She also taught as an adjunct professor at the College of William & Mary.
Bryant began her legal career as a Captain in the 7th Transportation Group in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. She later served as a Major in the United States Army Reserve and acted as a legal advisor to superior officers and military families.
Bryant received a bachelor’s degree in history and Spanish at the University of Virginia. She then completed a J.D. at William & Mary Law School (1992) and an M.B.A. at the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business (2021).
Born in Springfield, Virginia, Bryant and her husband, Scott, have one child.
She is registered as a Democrat.
