The Hon. Lillie Blackmon Sanders (Ret.) served as a judge for the 6th Circuit Court District of Mississippi. Sanders was appointed to the bench by former Governor Ray Mabus in 1989. She retired at the conclusion of her term in 2022.
The 6th Circuit District encompasses Adams, Amite, Franklin, and Wilkinson Counties.
Prior to her appointment, Sanders was a partner at the Sanders Law Firm. She supplemented her practice with service as a judge for the Fayette Municipal Court and a public defender for the Adams County Youth Court.
Sanders earned a bachelor’s degree from Alcorn State University. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Mississippi School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Sanders spent time as an attorney with Southwest Mississippi Legal Services and the Mississippi Department of Human Services.
Her memberships have included the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Association of Drug Court Professionals and the Access to Justice Commission.
