Biography

The Hon. Larry H. Puckett (Ret.) is a former judge for the 10th Judicial District Circuit Court of Tennessee. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Don Sundquist in 1997. Puckett retired in June 2021.


The 10th Judicial District includes McMinn, Bradley, Monroe, and Polk Counties.


Prior to joining the bench, he was an assistant district attorney for the 10th Judicial District, a position he held for just over three months. Before that, Puckett spent seventeen years in private practice.


He received a bachelor’s degree from Bryan College in 1973. Puckett then served for five years as an admissions counselor at Bryan College before completing a J.D. at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, in 1979.


One of five children, he was raised in Bristol, Tennessee, where his father was a salesman and his mother worked at the local hosiery mill. Puckett and his wife, Patty, have three grown children and several grandchildren.


Following his retirement, he hoped to spend more time on his hobbies, including traveling, reading, history, antiques, historic cemeteries, and sports.


Puckett is registered as a Republican.
