Judge Larisa V. Benitez-Morgan: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Larisa V. Benitez-Morgan (Ret.) served as a judge for the Kenosha County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. Benitez-Morgan was appointed to the bench by Governor Tony Evers on April 1, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. David M. Bastianelli. She resigned from the bench at the conclusion of her term in 2021.

Prior to her appointment, Benitez-Morgan was an assistant public defender for the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office in Kenosha County, a position to which she was named in 2008. She specialized in criminal, juvenile, mental health, protective placement, termination of parental rights, and child support matters.

Benitez-Morgan earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in 2006.

After graduating from law school, Benitez-Morgan entered into private practice. She worked in that capacity for two years, handling real estate, intellectual property, and family law matters.

Her memberships have included the Wisconsin State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Real Estate Association, and the American Bar Association.

Raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Benitez-Morgan attended Frank W. Cox High School. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
