Judge Kim Adair Wilson - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Kim Adair Wilson is a judge for the Civil Court of the City of New York in Bronx County. Shortly after her election to the bench in 2014, Wilson was designated to the Criminal Court of the City of New York in Bronx County by Deputy Chief Administrative Judge Fern Fisher. She presided in that capacity until 2017, at which time she returned to the Civil Court of the City of New York.

Wilson earned a B.A. in political science from Boston College in 1978. She then completed a J.D. from Hofstra University, Maurice A. Deane School of Law in 1982.

Prior to her election to the bench, Wilson served as a judicial law clerk for the Civil Law Department of the New York State Unified Court System since 1989. During this time, she was also a special referee for election matters for the Bronx County Supreme Court. Wilson has also worked as an investigative attorney for the New York City Department of Investigation. She held this position from 1986 to 1989, initiating investigations involving corruption, misconduct, and improper activities by city officials, employees, and contractors.

Wilson has served as president of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association. Her professional memberships have included the Bronx County Women’s Bar Association, the Bronx County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Judicial Friends Association of the National Bar Association. She has also been a member of the National Council of Negro Women and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

She is a recipient of the Outstanding Woman Jurist Award from the National Council of Negro Women and the Jane Matilda Bolin Award from the Judicial Friends Association.
