Biography

The Hon. Kelly Codispoti is a judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit Court of West Virginia. She was elected to the bench in 2024.


The 11th Judicial Circuit includes Logan and Mingo counties.


Prior to her election, Codispoti was a judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit Court of West Virginia, a position to which former Governor Jim Justice appointed her in 2022. At the time, the 7th Judicial Circuit included Logan County. Before that, she presided as a judge on the 9th Family Court Circuit of West Virginia in Logan County. Codispoti was appointed to the seat in 2001.


She joined the bench following stints as a public defender and assistant prosecuting attorney in Logan County. Codispoti initially entered public service as a child advocate attorney at the Bureau of Child Support Enforcement, where she served in both Logan and Mingo counties. She also spent time in private practice as an attorney at Valentine, Wilson & Partian, Cagle & Garten, and at her own solo practice.


Codispoti received a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University in 1977. She then completed a J.D. at Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit College of Law, in 1980.


She is married to Leonard L. Codispoti, a former magistrate for Logan County. They raised two children.
