The Hon. Katherine S. Gorman is a circuit judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. She was elected to the bench on November 6, 2012, filling a vacancy created by the nomination of the Hon. James E. Shadid to the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
The 10th Judicial Circuit includes Marshall County, Peoria County, Putnam County, Stark County, and Tazewell County.
Prior to her appointment, Gorman was an associate judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit, a position to which she was named in 2007. Before that, she spent time as a partner at Prusak, Winne & Gorman (1993 to 2007).
Gorman earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1990. She then completed a J.D. at Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1993.
Raised in Washington, Illinois, Gorman is the daughter of the Hon. John A. Gorman, the former Chief Judge of the 10th Judicial Circuit (1994 to 1998). She and her husband, Jim, have two children.
