The Hon. Karen J. Burrell (Ret.) served as a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Virginia. Burrell was elected to the bench by the Virginia General Assembly on July 2, 2007. She resigned at the conclusion of her term on June 30, 2015.
The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses the City of Norfolk.
Prior to her election, Burrell spent thirteen years as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney for the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Burrell earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary in 1989. She then completed a J.D. at William & Mary Law School in 1993.
