Biography

Hon. Joseph A. Soldani (Ret.) was a judge for the Madera County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010, filling a vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. Edward P. Moffat (deceased).


Soldani earned an A.A. from Fresno City College and a B.A. from California State University, Fresno. He then completed a J.D. from Humphreys College, Laurence Drivon School of Law.


He was admitted to practice in California in 1979.


Soldani began his legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. Myron D. Crocker (deceased) of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California in 1980. The following year, he joined the Office of the District Attorney of Madera County as a deputy district attorney. Soldani prosecuted cases there for the next seven years, eventually rising to assistant district attorney in 1985.


Then, in 1998, he left the Office of the District Attorney and joined the Office of the City Attorney of Fresno as its deputy city attorney. Five years later, Soldani relocated to the Office of the City Attorney of Madera. He was offered a position as its city attorney, a post he held until 2003.


Just prior to his appointment to the bench, Soldani worked in his own private practice as a sole practitioner.


He is registered as a Democrat.
