Judge Jolene Grubb Kopriva: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Jolene Grubb Kopriva (Ret.) is a senior judge for the Blair County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was elected to the bench in 1987, becoming the first female judge in Blair County. Grubb Kopriva retired in 2017 and subsequently assumed senior status.


During her judicial tenure, she also served as the county’s first female president judge.


She received a B.S. in law enforcement and corrections from Pennsylvania State University in 1975. Grubb Kopriva went on to complete a J.D. at Duquesne University School of Law in 1978.


After graduating from law school, she worked for several years as an attorney in Evey, Routch, Black, Doreszas & Magee (1978 to 1987). Her legal career also included a brief stint as an assistant district attorney with the Blair County District Attorney’s Office (1980 to 1981).


Grubb Kopriva held memberships with the Blair County Bar Association, the Blair County Children’s Roundtable (co-chair), and the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges (Education Committee).


In January 2020, the former 1906 Lawyers’ Lobby was renamed the Judge Jolene Grubb Kopriva Lobby in her honor.


Her husband, Tom Kopriva, is the retired executive director of the Hollidaysburg Area YMCA.
