Hon. John P. Dewey (Ret.) was a judge for the Sandusky County Court of Common Pleas (General Division) in Ohio. He was elected to the seat in November 2008. Dewey retired on May 31, 2020, citing health concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to serving on the Court of Common Pleas, he was a judge for the Sandusky County Court, a position to which he was appointed in 1975.
Dewey received a bachelor’s degree from Muskingum University in 1969. He went on to complete a J.D. at the Ohio State University, Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 1972.
After graduating from law school, Dewey began his legal career as a partner in the law firm of Dewey & Dewey. His legal career also included acting as a city solicitor for the City of Clyde (1975).
He was registered as a Republican.
