The Hon. John F. Dugger, Jr., is a judge for the 3rd Judicial District Criminal Court of Tennessee. He was elected to the bench on August 3, 2006, and re-elected in 2014 and 2022.
The 3rd Judicial District encompasses Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, and Hawkins Counties.
Dugger earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1982. He then completed a J.D. at Samford University, Cumberland School of Law, in 1987.
After graduating from law school, Dugger entered into private practice, working as an associate at Bacon, Dugger, Jesse & Perkins. He remained with the firm until 1989, at which time he was hired as an assistant district attorney with the 3rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Then, in 2000, he launched his own private practice as a sole practitioner.
His memberships have included the Tennessee Trial Judges Association. He has also been involved with the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club.
He is registered as a Republican.
