The Hon. John F. Davis (Ret.) served as a judge for the 13th Judicial District Court of New Mexico. Davis was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bill Richardson in 2006. He retired on January 31, 2020.
The 13th Judicial District encompasses Cibola County, Sandoval County, and Valencia County.
Prior to his appointment, Davis was an attorney in private practice. He supplemented his practice with service as a municipal judge for the Rio Rancho Municipal Court (1985 to 1989) as well as a special commissioner for domestic violence, domestic relations, and child support cases in the 13th Judicial District.
Davis earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Albuquerque in 1978. He then completed a J.D. at the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1982.
His memberships have included the Sandoval County Bar Association (president), the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. He has also been involved with the Sandoval County Labor Relations Board and the Sandoval County Driving While Intoxicated Planning Council.
