Hon. John C. Porto is a judge for the Atlantic/Cape May County Superior Court (Vicinage 1) in New Jersey. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jon Corzine in 2010 and reappointed for tenure in 2016.
While on the bench, Porto has held assignments in the Cape May County Family (2010 to 2013) and Criminal (2013 to 2018) Divisions and the Atlantic County Civil Division (2018 to present).
Prior to his appointment, he had worked as the Cape May county counsel since 2003. Before that, he was an assistant county counsel (1997 to 2003) and also held the position of assistant county counsel in Atlantic City. Prior to these positions, Porto was a private practice attorney.
He received a B.A. from Glassboro State College in 1986. Porto went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Akron School of Law in 1991.
At the time of his appointment, Porto resided in Middle Township with his wife, Lisa, and their two children. He is also a graduate of Wildwood High School (1981).
He is registered as a Republican.
