The Hon. Jesse S. Cartrette, Jr. is a judge for the Florence County Probate Court in South Carolina. He was elected to the bench on November 6, 2018.
Prior to his election, Cartrette operated his own private practice in Florence since 2008. Before that, he was a law clerk to the Hon. Thomas A. Russo with the 12th Judicial Circuit Court. Cartrette also served as a Guardian ad Litem and an adjunct professor of Business Law at Limestone University.
He received a B.S. in political science from Francis Marion University in 2002. Cartrette then completed a J.D. at Charleston School of Law in 2007. He was a founding member of the Christian Legal Society and a member of the Honor Council. Cartrette received The Civility Award, the law school’s highest honor.
He was admitted to practice in South Carolina (2008) and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina (2010).
His memberships include the Florence County Bar. Cartrette also sat as a member of the Florence County Senior Citizens Associations Board of Directors and the Florence Rotary Club.
One of three sons, Cartrette was born in Florence, South Carolina, where he graduated from South Florence High School. He attends Christian Assembly Church in Florence.
