The Hon. Jesse J. Marino is a judge for the Superior Court of San Luis Obispo County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on November 2, 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Jac A. Crawford.
Marino earned a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He then completed a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.
He began his legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. A. Andrew Hauk of the United States District Court for the Central District of California in 1997. The following year, he joined the Office of the District Attorney of Riverside County, where he served as a deputy district attorney for the next three years.
Marino briefly left the public sector in 2003. He accepted a position as an associate at Ogden and Fricks but quickly left to serve in the Office of the District Attorney of San Luis Obispo County. During his thirteen-year tenure as a deputy district attorney there, he handled murder, gang, sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, major narcotics, and felony cases.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Marino served as the president of the San Luis Obispo Government Attorney’s Union. He has also been a board member of San Luis Obispo County Court Appointed Special Advocates and president of the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association.
He is registered as a Democrat.
