Hon. Jennifer B. Ranji is a judge for the Family Court in New Castle County, Delaware. She was appointed to the Family Court by former Governor Jack Markell in October 2015 and was confirmed by the Delaware State Senate later that same month. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of William L. Champman, Jr. (Ret.).
Ranji received a B.A. from Rutgers University in 1991. She went on to earn a J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1995.
Prior to her appointment, she served as secretary of the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families. Ranji was also an educational advisor to then-Governor Markell.
Before joining the Governor’s administration, she served as an attorney in private practice, was deputy legal counsel in the Office of Governor Thomas Carper, and was Director of Legal Services at the Family Court of the State of Delaware.
In addition to her private practice, Ranji also served as a volunteer attorney with the Delaware Volunteer Legal Services for domestic violence victims and with the Office of the Child Advocate for child abuse victims.
