Hon. Jeffrey R. Wilson is a judge for the 6th Judicial District Court of Colorado. He was appointed to the bench in 2002.
The 6th Judicial District includes Archuleta, La Plata, and San Juan Counties. During his judicial tenure, Wilson has served as Chief Judge of the 6th Judicial District since 2017.
Prior to his appointment, he spent twelve years in private practice, including as the founding partner at Wilson & Crawford. His areas of practice included personal injury, criminal defense, dependency and neglect, and family law matters. In addition, Wilson also served as the Southern Ute Tribe Prosecutor (1996 to 1998) and the Southern Ute Tribal Judge pro tem (2001).
Before that, he worked as an assistant district attorney for the 22nd Judicial District (1989 to 1990), the 6th Judicial (1984 to 1989), and the 4th Judicial District (1981 to 1983).
Wilson received a B.A. from the University of Iowa. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Iowa College of Law in 1980.
After graduating from law school, Wilson began his legal career in private practice before becoming a prosecutor in 1981.
