Hon. Jeffrey A. Lanphear is an associate justice of the Rhode Island Superior Court. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Donald Carcieri in 2003.
During his judicial tenure, Lanphear has presided over the Formal and Special Cause Calendar in Providence County.
Prior to joining the bench, he was an attorney at Lanphear & Dillon and Selya & Iannuccillo.
Lanphear also spent time as a special master with the Rhode Island Supreme Court (1995 to 2000).
He received a B.A. from Providence College in 1978. Lanphear went on to complete a J.D. at New England Law in 1981.
He was admitted to practice in Rhode Island (1981), Massachusetts (1981), the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island (1982), the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit (1985), and the United States Supreme Court (1986).
