The Hon. James M. DeMarzo is a judge for the Morris/Sussex County Superior Court (Vicinage 10) in New Jersey. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jon Corzine on January 12, 2010.
DeMarzo has held assignments in the Family Division (2010 to 2014, 2017 to present) and the Criminal Division (2014 to 2017) in Morris County.
Prior to his appointment, DeMarzo spent twenty years as an attorney in private practice, working as a managing partner at O’Donnell, McCord and DeMarzo in Morristown. He specialized in civil and criminal trial practice. During this time, he also served as a municipal prosecutor for the Madison Borough, the Califon Borough, and the Washington Township, where he handled municipal land use and planning law matters.
DeMarzo earned a bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University in 1986. He then completed a J.D. at Seton Hall Law School in 1989.
He was born and raised in Madison, New Jersey.
DeMarzo is registered as a Republican.
