The Hon. James K. Booras is a circuit judge for the Lake County Circuit Court in Illinois. He was appointed to the bench by the Illinois Supreme Court on August 15, 2000.
Prior to his appointment, Booras was an associate judge for the Lake County Circuit Court, a position to which he was named in 1991.
Booras earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University in 1975. He then completed a J.D. at Lewis University College of Law in 1979.
After graduating from law school, Booras spent time as an assistant state’s attorney for the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office. He also worked as an attorney in private practice as well as a city prosecutor for Waukegan.
