Hon. James G. Conway, Jr. is a circuit judge for the 14th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. He was appointed to the bench by the Illinois Supreme Court in 2002, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Martin Conway, who is his second cousin.
The 14th Judicial Circuit Court includes Henry, Mercer, Rock Island, and Whiteside Counties.
During his judicial tenure, Conway has presided over the Civil Division in Rock Island County and served as the presiding judge for Henry County.
Prior to his appointment, he was a chief assistant and senior law clerk to the Hon. Tom Killbride with the Illinois Supreme Court. Before that, Conway was a private practice attorney in California (1988 to 2000) and worked with the Legal Aid Society of Orange County (1981 to 1984).
He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from St. Ambrose University in 1968. Conway went on to complete a J.D. at the University of San Diego School of Law in 1980.
He was admitted to practice in Illinois (2002) and California (1980).
