The Hon. Jack Sapunor (Ret.) served as a judge for the Sacramento County Superior Court in California. Sapunor was initially appointed to the Sacramento Municipal Court by former Governor George Deukmejian in 1985. He was subsequently elected to the Superior Court on June 7, 1988, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of his father, the Hon. John M. Sapunor.
He retired from the bench in 2008 and joined the Assigned Judges Program.
Sapunor earned a bachelor's degree from Santa Clara University in 1970. He then completed a J.D. at Santa Clara University School of Law in 1973.
Born and raised in Sacramento, Sapunor attended Christian Brothers High School. He is the grandson of Thomas Sapunor, Sr., who emigrated to the United States from the Island of Brac. His grandfather worked as a locomotive engineer with Southern Pacific, holding the record for the fastest and the slowest times for crossing the Sierra Nevadas.
