The Hon. Jack I. Lesser is an associate judge for the Baltimore City District Court in Maryland. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor William Schaefer on October 25, 1994.
Lesser has held assignments on the Criminal Law & Procedure Committee of the Maryland Judicial Conference and the District Court Chief Judge’s Committee of the Maryland Judicial Council.
Prior to his appointment, Lesser was an assistant state’s attorney for the Baltimore City Office of the State’s Attorney, a position to which he was named in 1979.
Lesser earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Baltimore in 1976. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1979.
His memberships have included the Baltimore City Bar Association. He also sat on the Baltimore City Committee on Insurance and Risk Management (1988 to 1992), the Baltimore City Housing Authority (1989 to 1994), the Baltimore City Homeless Relief Advisory Board (1992), and the Baltimore City Community Relations Commission (1994).
He is a recipient of the Merit Award from Northwest Citizens Patrol (1990), the Award of Achievement from the Young Lawyers Section of the Baltimore City Bar Association (1993), the Resolution of Appreciation for Services from the Baltimore City Housing Authority (1994), and the Certificate of Appreciation from the South Baltimore Homeless Shelter (1994).
Lesser was born in Baltimore, Maryland, where he attended Northwestern High School.
