The Hon. J. Terrence Cody (Ret.) served as a judge for the Floyd County Circuit Court in Indiana. Cody was elected to the bench on November 3, 1998. He retired at the conclusion of his term in 2022.
Cody earned a bachelor’s degree from Xavier University in 1971. He then completed a J.D. at Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1974.
After graduating from law school, Cody returned to New Albany and entered into private practice alongside his father. He worked in that capacity until his election to the bench.
His memberships have included the Indiana Judicial Conference, the Indiana Judges Association, and the Indiana State Bar Association. He has also been involved with the Indiana Supreme Court Pro Bono Committee (District 14), the Floyd County Hospital Foundation, Goodwill BridgePoint Services, and the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana.
He is registered as a Democrat.
