The Hon. J. T. Stelzer is a judge for the General Division and the Domestic Relations Division of the Williams County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor John Kasich on July 18, 2011, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Craig L. Roth.
Prior to his appointment, Stelzer was a partner at Gallagher, Stelzer & Yosick, a law firm he initially joined in 1981. During this time, he has served as a private and court-appointed mediator.
Stelzer earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from the Ohio State University in 1978. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1981. He is admitted to practice in Ohio, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the United States Bankruptcy Court.
His memberships have included the Center for Principled Family Advocacy, the Northwest Ohio Family Law Association, the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Bryan Area Foundation Project 2020.
He also sat on the Orchard Hills Country Club Board (1987 to 1990) and the Williams County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (1991 to 1992).
Stelzer is registered as a Republican.
