The Hon. Ian Smith is a judge for the Lincoln County Justice Court in Mississippi. He joined the bench in 2020.
Smith hears all matters involving DUIs and violations of county ordinances, as well as felony first appearances and the filing of affidavits. The judges also provide court sessions at the jail three days a week to ensure offenders have their initial court appearance within three days of arrest.
Prior to beginning his judicial career, Smith worked for ten years with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Before that, he was with the Federal Prison System for five years.
He received an associate’s degree from Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Smith also attended the Federal Bureau of Prisons Training Academy, the Southern Regional Public Safety Institute, and the Mississippi Judicial College.
He was born and raised in Lincoln County. Smith and his wife, Brandi, have two children. The family attends Calvary Baptist Church.
