The Hon. Harry E. Clem (Ret.) served as a circuit judge for the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. He retired from the bench on September 15, 2016.
The Sixth Judicial Circuit includes Champaign County, DeWitt County, Douglas County, Macon County, Moultrie County, and Piatt County.
Clem began his judicial career as an associate judge for the 6th Judicial Circuit, a position to which he was named in 1979. Then, in 1995, he became a circuit judge for the court.
Prior to his appointment, Clem was a partner at Follmer, West, Erdmann & Clem. Before that, he was an associate at Webber, Balbach, Thies & Follmer (1972 to 1976).
Clem earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1969. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Illinois College of Law in 1972.
His memberships have included the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Family Support Enforcement Association, the Champaign County Bar Association, and the Illinois Judicial Conference. He also sat on the Illinois Supreme Court’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Coordinating Committee, Study Committee on Mediation of Child Custody Support and Visitation Disputes, and Resource Allocation Statistics Advisory Group.
Raised in Macon County, Clem attended Warrensburg-Latham High School. He was a resident of Savoy, Illinois, at the time of his retirement.
