Judge Graham C. Polando: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Graham C. Polando is a magistrate for the St. Joseph County Probate Court in Indiana. He was appointed to the bench in 2013.


Polando serves as the primary magistrate for allegations of juvenile delinquency. He also hears CHINS, termination of parental rights, family law, and probate cases.


Prior to his appointment, Polando was a deputy prosecuting attorney for the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office, a position to which he was named in 2012. Before that, he spent time with the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office (2007 to 2012).


Polando earned a bachelor’s degree in history, political science, and philosophy from Hillsdale College in 2004. He then completed a J.D. at Case Western Reserve University School of Law (2007) and a master’s degree in criminal justice at Boston University (2011).


As a law student, Polando clerked at Wincek, Derosa & Bucalo (2005 to 2006) and the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland (2006).


Polando and his wife, Rachel, reside in Warsaw, Indiana. Rachel is a professor of biology at Manchester University.
