The Hon. Glenn I. Wright (Ret.) is a former judge for the 30th Judicial District Criminal Court of Tennessee in Shelby County. Wright was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bill Haslam on June 28, 2013, filling the vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. W. Otis Higgs. His term expired in 2022.
Prior to his appointment, Wright managed his own private practice since 2009. Before establishing his law office, he was an attorney at Stokes, Wilson & Wright for seventeen years (1992 to 2009). Wright entered private practice following stints as an assistant district attorney (1984 to 1991) and an assistant public defender (1983 to 1984) in Shelby County.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis in 1979. Wright then completed a J.D. at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, in 1982.
He volunteered his time with the Saturday Legal Clinic program and attends Cummings Street Baptist Church.
Wright and his wife, Linda, have two grown children.
