Biography

The Hon. George P. Eichwald is a judge for the 13th Judicial District Court of New Mexico. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bill Richardson in 2004.


The 13th Judicial District encompasses Cibola County, Sandoval County, and Valencia County. Over the course of his judicial career, Eichwald has presided over both civil and criminal cases. He also sat as the 13th Judicial District’s Chief Judge and Water Law Judge.


Prior to his appointment, Eichwald spent fifteen years as an attorney in private practice.


Eichwald earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico. He also completed a J.D. at the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1984.
