Hon. Gary L. Popham, Jr. is a commissioner for the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. He joined the bench in 2019.
During his tenure as a commissioner, Popham has held an assignment in the Civil Department.
Prior to joining the bench, he briefly practiced as a partner in the Phoenix office of Manning & Kass, Ellrod, Ramirez, Trester LLP (2018 to 2019). His areas of practice included professional liability litigation, government and police liability defense, and social services defense. In addition, Popham has argued before the court of appeals at the state and federal levels.
Before joining the firm, he was a partner in The Doyle Firm, PC (2016 to 2017) and the Popham Law Group, PC (2013 to 2016). He had also previously spent ten years practicing at The Doyle Firm beginning in 2003. In between that time, Popham was of counsel at O’Connor Campbell, PC (2013 to 2016).
He received a B.A. in philosophy and business administration from the University of Arizona in 1997. Popham went on to complete a J.D. at Syracuse University College of Law in 2000.
He was admitted to practice in New Jersey (2001), the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (2001), Arizona (2003), and the United States District Court for the District of Arizona (2004).
After graduating from law school, Popham began his legal career as an attorney in the law firm of McDonough, Korn & Eichhorn, PC (2000 to 2002).
He has held a membership with the Maricopa County Bar Association.
