Hon. Feidlim E. Gill is an associate justice for the Rhode Island Family Court. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gina Raimondo on September 1, 2017, filling the vacancy created by the appointment of the Hon. Michael B. Forte to Chief Judge.
Prior to joining the bench, Gill sat as a general magistrate for the Family Court since 2013.
Before that, he spent time as an assistant attorney general, assigned for thirteen years to the Criminal Division of the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office. During that time, Gill served as Chief of both the Narcotics and Organized Crime and Juvenile Prosecution Units.
He also taught as an adjunct professor at Johnson and Wales University and trained local and state police officers on juvenile justice.
Gill received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Rhode Island. He went on to complete a J.D. at Suffolk University Law School. He was admitted to practice in Rhode Island in 1999.
He sat as a member of the Rhode Island Justice Commissioner’s Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee.
Gill is a graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School. At the time of his appointment, Gill resided in Narragansett with his wife and children. He is the brother-in-law of Rhode Island Senate Majority Leader Michael J. McCaffrey.
