Biography

The Hon. Faith Fickling-Alvarez is a judge for the Mecklenburg County District Court in the 26th Judicial District of North Carolina. She joined the bench in 2018.


Prior to beginning her judicial career, Fickling-Alvarez was an attorney with Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. Her areas of practice included family law, domestic violence law, consumer protection law, and landlord/tenant law.


Fickling-Alvarez received a B.A. in international studies from American University in 2001. She then completed a J.D. at Syracuse University College of Law in 2006.


Her memberships include the Mecklenburg County Bar and the Mecklenburg County Bar Foundation. Fickling-Alvarez has also been involved with the Presbyterian Psychological Services Board of Directors, the Peace Corps (East Africa), the Mecklenburg County Women’s Advisory Board, the Domestic Violence Advocacy Council, the Young Democrats of Mecklenburg County, the Democratic Women of Mecklenburg Count, and Freedom House Church.


She received the 2019 North Carolina & South Carolina Lawyers Weekly Diversity and Inclusion Award. Fickling-Alvarez was also named Woman of the Year by the Women Lawyers of Charlotte (2017) and was a North Carolina Leader in the Law Honoree by the North Carolina Lawyers Weekly.


She is registered as a Democrat.
