Hon. Eulalia V. De La Rosa is a judge for the Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois. She was elected to the Circuit Court in 2016. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of Edmund Ponce de Leon (Ret.).
While on the bench, De La Rosa has held an assignment in the Fourth Municipal District of the Municipal Department.
She received a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University in 1998. De La Rosa went on to complete a J.D. at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2003.
After law school, she worked as a staff attorney and court coordinator for the Cook County Office of the Chief Judge, a position she held for one year. Then, in 2004, De La Rosa joined the Cook County Public Defender’s Office, where she served as an assistant public defender until her election to the bench in 2016. During her tenure there, she was assigned to the Felony Trial Division in 2009.
She served as a board member and past president of the Puerto Rican Bar Association and was also a board member of the Illinois Latino Judges Association.
Her other memberships included the Illinois Judges Association and the Hispanic Lawyer’s Association of Illinois.
De La Rosa is registered as a Democrat.
