Hon. Erin Haggerty Antonietti is a judge for the Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois. She was appointed to the Circuit Court by the Illinois Supreme Court in 2019 and was subsequently elected to the seat the following year. She filled the vacancy created by the passing of Allen F. Murphy (deceased).
While on the bench, Haggerty Antonietti has held assignments in the First and Sixth Judicial Districts of the Municipal Department.
She received a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Notre Dame. Haggerty Antonietti went on to complete a J.D. at DePaul University College of Law in 1991.
After law school, she first served as a law clerk at Balkin & Doran (1991) before joining the insurance defense law firm Bresnahan & Garvey, where she handled civil litigation matters including medical malpractice and product liability as an associate for three years.
Haggerty Antonietti left the private sector in 1994 to become an assistant state’s attorney with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, she handled violent felony and misdemeanor, adult and juvenile, domestic violence, traffic, and appellate cases. Haggerty Antonietti remained with the State’s Attorney’s Office until joining the judiciary in 2019.
She also taught as an adjunct professor at Prairie State College and taught mock trials to junior high students at Christ the King School.
She was born and raised in Beverly, Chicago. As an active member of her community, Haggerty Antonietti has served with the Christ the King School Foundation Board, the CK 2050 Capital Campaign Committee, the Special Olympics of Chicago, and Misericordia.
She is registered as a Democrat.
