The Hon. Eric R. Yost (Ret.) served as a judge for the 18th Judicial District Court of Kansas. Yost was elected to the bench in 1996. He resigned in 2015 to become the Sedgwick County Counselor.
The 18th Judicial District encompasses Sedgwick County.
Prior to his election, Yost was an attorney in private practice.
Yost earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Wichita State University. He spent the next few years as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives before completing a J.D. at the University of Kansas School of Law. Then, in 1984, he was elected to the Kansas Senate.
Born in Wichita, Kansas, Yost sat at the center of a dispute concerning a Federal Bureau of Investigation inquiry into alleged illegal behavior regarding the firing of County Manager Mike Scholes. Yost was accused of violating attorney-client confidentiality and faced ethics charges.
